Spielberg Audio Labs Drivers All of our drivers are carefully selected and matched for optimum linearity, smoothness of dispersion pattern, and ultra low distortion. All woofers have cast magnesium frames, mineral filled polycones (Composite Kevlar in the case of the Monitor I, and II, and rubber surrounds and high temperature voice coils. Our two way speakers use a very low distortion HIVI Planar Mid/Tweeter, with very smooth response on and off axis up to 25khz. Our three way designs make use of ultra low distortion LFT planar magnetic midranges, or the HIVI planar magnetic midrange driver, polycone Midbass drivers, and HIVI planar tweeters. These planar drivers offer an amazing transparency, sense of space, and reproduction of detail. You can close your eyes and these cabinets literally disappear in the sound field due the vanishing low driver distortion and lack of cabinet resonance.
High Quality Crossover Components We at SAL use only high precision Solen crossover components connected in point to point solder connections to avoid stray inductance, capacitance, and build up of unwanted resistance common in pc board mounted crossovers. This combined with careful tuning of the network Qs by measurement and especially listening results in crossovers voiced to sound unusually realistic to the source with unequaled clarity and transparency. The Reference I
The SAL Reference III system is a self contained reference monitoring system that provides similar detail, resolution, and articulation to the SAL Reference, but in a single cabinet per-side-design. Each unit has two Hi Vi planar tweeter, one LFT midrange driver operating in a dipolar configuration, and a pair of Seas cast frame eight inch woofers in a large sealed enclosure. Included with the system is an Active Low-pass filter with variable Q equalization for optimum low-end coupling to your room. Cabinets are constructed entirely of 13 ply Baltic birch with a heavy polyurethane finish. Two high Current Amplifiers are required. As with the SAL Reference, when properly setup the speaker system has the ability to reproduce music with an uncanny sense of realism. Again due to the use of the Planar Magnetic drivers, distortion is low and transient performance is impeccable. Response of 35hz to 45,000hz - 3db, sensitivity of 92 db at (1w/1m) . The Monitor II
The Monitor II, utilizes a large planar magnetic midrange/tweeter and a composite Kevlar cone woofer. The use of a low distortion planar magnetic driver down into the midband contributes to level of clarity uncommon in traditional box speakers. Transient reproduction is impeccable as is the clarity of image placement within the sound field. One must hear the low level linearity to appreciate it, unlike the sluggish/gated performance of a dome tweeter, the decay of high-frequency transients (as with the attack, and decay of a hi-hat cymbal), is both natural and seductive. Cabinets are constructed of doubled up 13 ply birch (26 ply) and finished in oak veneer. Response is from 45hz - 25,000hz - 3db, power handling 100 watts, sensitivity 89db (1w/1m), vented box fourth order alignment. _______________________________
The Monitor II pro The Monitor II pro, is a new design which utilizes a modern version of the Heil air motion tweeter, and a Seas Excel 6.5" cast frame woofer with a magnesium cone. Cabinets are constructed of 13 ply birch and finished in a beautiful maple veneer. The Monitor II' pro response is from 40hz to 25khz -3db, Power handling 100 watts, sensitivity 86.5 dB at (1W/1m)
Monitor III pro The Monitor III is a three way design using a HIVI planar magnetic midrange, a Hivi planar magnetic tweeter, and one Vifa 8" cast frame woofer in a large vertical enclosure. The cabinet edges are rounded in order to minimize diffraction. The cabinet is a Maple Veneer, or oak Veneer over 13 ply birch, vented box, (Bi-ampable or Bi-wire-able, on special order). Low-pass section is completely separate from the high pass section of the crossover for low cross talk. Low-pass filter on woofer employs a large 12awg air core Solen perfect lay inductor. The Monitor III's response is from 40hz to 45khz -3db, power handling 150 watts, sensitivity 91db at (1w/1m) .
The Monitor III
The Monitor III is a three way design using an LPG 2" aluminum dome, a planar magnetic tweeter, and one Vifa 8" cast frame woofer in a large vertical enclosure. The Monitor III's response is flat from 40hz to 45khz - 3db, power handling 150 watts, sensitivity 91db at (1w/1m) .
The Monitor 1 is an excellent two way monitor making use of the new composite kevlar cone, 5" cast frame Woofer from Hi Vi, and Hi Vi's planar magnetic tweeter. The cabinet is constructed of 13 ply birch with rounded radius edges on the front baffle to avoid diffraction. The monitor 1 small size, and "fast" drivers allow for an amazing ability to portray different images within a soundstage with incredible delineation. The Crossover utilizes all Solen polypropylene capacitors, and Solen perfect lay inductors. Finish is a combination of birch and oak veneers. Response is from 55hz - 45,000hz - 3db, power handling 75 watts, sensitivity 89db (1w/1m) , vented box, fourth order alignment
Dual 12 sub The Dual 12 subwoofer system uses the Peerless 830500 12" XLS woofer with a Thick Nomex fibre cone, cast frame, Xmax 12.5 mm peak, and Strontium Ferrite Magnets. This design makes use of a Peerless 830548 12 XLS passive radiator, that achieves high performance in a mid size cabinet, with low distortion. Cabinet is constructed of 13 ply baltic birch, with heavy bracing, finished in a choice of many high quality veneers, with an oil base polyurethane. Unit can be purchased powered or unpowered.
Single 12 Sub The Single 12 subwoofer system uses the Peerless 830500 12" XLS woofer with a Thick Nomex fibre cone, cast frame, Xmax 12.5 mm peak, and Strontium Ferrite Magnets. The single 12 sub uses the Keiga KG-5230 300 watt amplifier, with built in x-over, and phase invery switch.
